Workplace Licence:
We understand the impact that drink driving and other like offences can have on both your personal and professional life.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible to apply for a restricted licence (workplace licence) if you are charged with a traffic offence that carries a term of licence suspension. The court can permit you to drive for specific purposes, such as employment requirements, during nominated times. This enables you to maintain your employment while ensuring that you do not suffer severe and unusual hardship as a result of having your licence suspended or forfeited.
Special Hardship Order:
Upon accumulating enough demerit points, a licence holder generally receives a letter from the Department of Transport advising on either an option of suspension for six (6) months or to enter into a Good Behaviour Period of 1 year, thus receiving 1 demerit point.
If charged with a high-speed offence (a traffic offence exceeding the speed limit by 40 km/h) or during your Good Behaviour Period you accumulate 1 or more demerit points; then you may be subject to a mandatory suspension of 6 months.
In either circumstance, you may be eligible to apply to the Court for a Special Hardship Order, which allows you to maintain your licence under special conditions regardless the suspension.
